题文诗：俗好高古，而称所闻，前人之业，如菜果甘甜；后人新造，如蜜酪辛苦。周长生者家在会稽，生在今世，文章虽奇，论者犹谓稚于前人。天禀元气，人受元精，不为古今差杀哉！优者为高明者为上实事之人见然否之分者睹非，却前退置于后见是推今进置于古心明智昭，不惑于俗也。
班叔皮续太史公书百篇以上记事详悉义浅理备观读之者以为甲而太史公乙子男班固为尚书郎文比叔皮若以国喻非徒五百里乃夫周召鲁卫也苟可高古而班氏父子不足纪也。
周有郁郁文在百世末汉在百世之后文论辞说安得不茂！喻大以小推民家事睹王廷义庐宅始成桑麻才有居历岁子孙相续桃李梅杏庵丘蔽野根茎众多华叶繁茂汉治久矣土广民众义兴事起华叶言安得不繁！夫华与实俱成无华生实物希有之山秃孰茂地潟孰滋文章之人滋茂汉朝乃夫汉家炽盛瑞天晏列宿焕炳阴雨日月蔽匿方今文人并出见乃夫汉朝明验。
Han Gaozu read Lü Ji's book and praised it with "Ten thousand years!" Xu Le and Ju Shu presented a memorial, and they were appointed as Langzhong. Nowadays, such cases are rare. The dishes served in the court are not bitter or sour, but people do not enjoy them. Every time an edict is issued, there are four categories of literary works: Confucian classics, histories, philosophies, and poetry. The edicts are numerous and enthusiastic about good literature.
However, the memorials submitted today lack substance and do not contain any valuable ideas. The sound of "Ten thousand years!" has yet to be heard; the honor of being appointed is still awaited. Those who merely want to appear virtuous but lack substance are many; those who truly possess virtue but remain hidden are few.
Lü Ji's book has yet to be presented; Xu Le's strategy remains unknown; all sorts of ignorant people speak without understanding the situation or offering useful advice. Their words may seem eloquent on paper but lack substance; their language is flowery without meaning.
It is fortunate that Lü Ji was rewarded for his talents despite these circumstances!
